The Good Little Befana...

Desserts like zeppole, struffoli and cenci continue to sweeten the winter season as the feast La Befana, January 6, is here!
This good witch, La Befana, flies around on her broom the night of the 5th filling Italian children's shoes with candy (or coal).
Legend said she was invited by the Three Kings to go to Bethlehem but refused saying she was too busy.  Then she changed her mind, but they had left.  This feast day, dating back to the Pagans, is celebrated with different dolci depending on what region.
